Was It a Dream?
Written by J. Kolchik, 11b

“It's time to go to bed”, Jessie said to herself and, yawning, headed for to the bed. She looked confident, although she was trembling, after watching a horror film a moment ago. “Who could watch a horror film alone?”, you’ll ask. Well, Jessica could. She assured herself that horror stories were fiction. Strolling along the huge study, she noticed a shadow of a headless person in the mirror in the corridor. She immediately closed her eyes with her hands and peered through her fingers again. Nothing. She hurriedly turned on the light hurriedly in the whole apartment.

Suddenly the light in the bathroom went off. Someone whispered “redrum”. Jessica closed her ears and eyes and tried to calm herself down. She felt someone touching her back. “Oh, god”, she exclaimed through tears. She opened her eyes and saw miniature traces of blood. Jess decided to follow them, but at first she dashed to the table and grabbed a knife: “Hey!!! Come out! I am not afraid of you!” She followed the tiny traces and felt her heart banging faster and faster. The door to the bathroom was closed; she tried hysterically to open it. After futile attempts, she was in tears she sat down next to the door.

All at once this terrible door opened with creaking. There stood a filthy child. Jessica dropped the knife out of the hand. The child was familiar to her. He was her childhood friend, who had disappeared in the forest, when they had played hide-and-seek in the countryside twenty-seven years ago. “Well, finally you found me!” grinned the boy… And the total darkness…

Eventually, Jessica opened her eyes. She was in her soft bed in a cold sweat. Jessica told herself never to watch scary movies again. She blankly stared at the ceiling, trying to forget this dream. Only one question remains - was it a dream?
