SHERLOCK HOLMES CLUB: The Most Boring Crime Ever

The Most Boring Crime Ever
Investigated by Ira Stepanova, 11b

Yesterday at about 11 pm a robbery of one of the local food stores was committed. Arriving at the scene of the crime, the detectives discovered signs of breaking in, a mess in the shopkeeper's office and an open cashbox. They immediately questioned Mr. Jenkins, the store owner, who called the police. Standard questions were asked.

- Where were you when the theft occurred?
- At home.
- How did you find out about it?
- The alarm went off, which alerted me.
- What was stolen?
- Money from the cashbox, some food. They tried to crack the safe, but probably because of the alarm did not have time.
- Do you have any suggestions who could have done this?
- In fact, I have a few enemies, so probably, I do. First, my rival Mr. Wild. He, is the owner of a chain of shops too, unfortunately less successful than mine. He has stated many times that he would like to destroy my life and career. Secondly, my ex-wife, Madeleine Hunter. She left me because of my obsession with work and lastly said that she would like to see my business burning in a bright flame. And of course Danny Brins. I recently fired him because the guy did not want to serve customers. He was terribly angry and promised to destroy me through some of his "connections". Some of them probably did it, but I can not say for sure.

The owner helped the detectives. The prints of shoes, found on the scene of the crime, didn’t make their work easier. The shoes belonged to the popular brand "Boots", which was worn by almost half of the city's people. The detectives questioned the suspects. Madeleine had an unquestioned alibi, confirmed by tickets and the words of many people. Danny first tried to escape, but he explained that he lived in a dysfunctional area and was always a bit afraid of the police. During the crime, he was in the library of the university, where he was seen by almost his entire group. He was angry only because the client was rude to him, and because of him he lost his job.

Rob Wild tried to leave the town, but he was arrested and the airport in a drunken state. He admitted that his business was in a terrible state and by committing a crime he hoped to make Jenkins's condition bad too.

The man was sentenced to 150 hours of compulsory labor. He also had to pay a fine of $ 1000.

- It was boring, - says one detective to another. - I immediately realized who it was.
- Not everyone is as smart as you.
- True.
