As for me, at a present I consider becoming an artist animator in character direction. I want to follow in the footsteps of Rebecca Sugar, a well-known professional in this sphere. There are many advantages to doing this of job. One of the main advantages of being an artist animator is that it`s a very interesting and creative job. Artists work at their own pleasure; they visualize their thoughts and imagination through animation. They don`t need to worry about boredom, because every day in drawing is satisfaction and every day is different to them. Anyway it will be so if artist likes the project he is doing.

Furthermore it`s a great chance to develop your talents and promote yourself. For example, Rebecca Sugar was an animator of cartoon ‘Adventure Time’, she designed characters, one day she got promoted and became a creator of her own cartoon ‘Steven Universe’ that is very popular now. In addition to that, you can work freelance in calm atmosphere. Don`t forget, that being an artist is prestigious and it`s a well-paid job, so everyone can earn a decent living doing that. In case your project gets popular, you can even have a profit sharing from merchandise and copyright.

On the other hand, there are disadvantages to becoming an artist. Firstly that career needs attention and perseverance. In my case, I have those 2 qualities. But there is one thing that scares me. Artist-animator is sedentary work. If I don`t look after myself, I can get scoliosis, new problems with my neck, excess weight, to prevent that I will have to go to in a gym. Moreover, I can purchase vision problems over the years, as I will draw small parts on graphic tablet and often work with computer. Besides that, the work isn`t in demand in Ukraine, that`s why I want to learn in other countries. In addition we don`t have many art universities either. I hope that I will handle with that problem, but also I am hoping to get into a good company, not to make poorly paid cartoons. Furthermore some actions could seem to be boring and monotous, however it doesn`t threaten me, because in my direction there is less monotony. Also, I will have many competitors as a lot of people want to earn good money.

I know that a good professional in this sphere has to be not only imaginative, but skillful as well. Artist animator must know how to work with Photoshop, visual effects, draw on graphic tablet and on paper, and have spatial imagination. In addition, a good artist must be a good actor too, as they need to show emotions of the character. Artist must know how to use one or the other style to make his project individual. Of course artist animator must possess good communication skills and sense of humor to liven up the characters. Finally, they need to be patient, accurate and calm as their working day can last from 8 to more hours.

All things considered, becoming an artist animator is a good idea for me because in my opinion, I am suited for this occupation. First of all I am aware of all the drawbacks involved. In addition to that, I am calm, imaginative, creative, skillful and confident. Moreover, I am interested in Informatics, Design, Arts and Crafts. Finally I am good at designing, painting, sketching and ready to learn more about them. Anyway, I still have some years ahead to make a final decision. But now I know for sure that must focus on such subjects as Art, English, German, and Informatics because they will be necessary for my future career.
