Full Metal Jacket

The name of my favorite movie is Full Metal Jacket. It was directed by Stanley Kubrick, a real master of modern movie making. It was released in 1987, by Warner Brothers. The cast is superb. Matthew Modine, Vincent D'Onofrio, Adam Baldwin and Lee Ermey starred in this film. It was the greatest box-office-hit with 46,357,676$ revenues. It received excellent reviews.

My friend recommended it to me. It is so memorable that I still keep in mind almost the entire script which is really well written by Stanley Kubrick, Michael Herr and Gustav Hasford. I like this movie because it has a combination of reality, humor and suspense. Every time I watch it, I feel that it is a real masterpiece. The plot is the following. It is the classic tale about war. The scene is laid in 1973.The action takes place in Vietnam. The main character is Joker - rookie- the commander of the department in the training base which includes a couple of soldiers and a clumsy Leonard Lawrence. Because of Leonard, the whole squad gets into trouble and everyone except the Joker hates him. On the last night of the studying, Joker was on duty at the barracks and heard the reloading of weapon. It was Leonard loading the M14 rifle with "full metal jacket" ammo. The Joker asked Leonard to lay down his rifle, but Leonard didn't listen. The combat instructor, awakened by the noise, demands to give him a rifle, but Leonard killsthe instructor with a shot in the chest. Then he kiils himself. Joker forever remembered this accident. After his studies, the Joker becomes a military journalist in the "Stars and Stripes" army-newspaper. From time to time the Joker is on the front line.

One of the reasons that I love that film is my favorite character, Joker. Thecharacter was played by Matthew Modine. What I like about Joker is that he is an honest person with strong soul. This character has affected me in very good way. Joker had to encounter many problems while being in Vietnam. To my mind it is hard to be a normal person after you have seen a lot of deaths. He was the only one man who stayed in clear mind when his squad got in a trap. Also he is a very lucky person because he stayed alive after hiding from the gunning behind the pillar.

I even didn't believe that such people actually existed in this world. The film makers created a brilliant plot with amusing characters. All the characters shown in the film seem to be realistic and the viewer lives together with them. The stuntmen performed fascinating tricks. The special effects made the movie unforgettable in spite of the fact that that the film was released in 1987. lt was such a thrilling story and the ending , where only half of squad returns from mission , is very tragic. lt is an absolutely intriguing film - it kept me absorbed from beginning to end.

Alll in all, the story is brilliant, the plot is a masterpiece, the dialogues perfectly describe characters. The cast is superb because they perfectly play they characters. Some episodes of the movie are amusing. The movie deeply touched me and became favorite movie l had ever seen.
