I recommend everyone to read the funny book called My Sister`s Got a Spoon up Her Nose written by a great author Jeremy Strong.

Nicolas`s sister Tomato got a spoon up her nose. Her parents didn`t know what to do with that problem, so they took her to hospital. Nurse looked at the baby and asked the concerned family to wait for a few minutes in the waiting room. In the corner they saw their neighbor Mr. Tugg. He was jammed inside a long metal stepladder. Nickolas`s mom asked how it had happened. Mr. Tugg first had fallen off the ladder and then he had fallen through it. After their little chat the nurse called him to the doctor. When the neighbor disappeared behind the door Nick`s father noticed leaflet with an inscription ‘three mile challenge’. It was a charity event for the hospital, you must run a mile, swim a mile and jump with parachute from a mile high. The nurse called poor Tomato to her, while father and Nick were playing with Tomato`s twin brother Cheese. But it was not long both Tomato and Mr. Tugg came back. Mr. Tugg was carrying his ladder and Tomato was holding a lolly. The teaspoon had gone. The nurse snatched up Three Mile Challenge to Mr. Tugg and asked him to sponsor her. He thought that it was good idea and asked Ron about sponsorship. Nick`s Dad didn`t want to sponsor the nurse, he wanted to take part. Mr. Tugg saw this as challenge and he wanted to beat his neighbor.

Nick became a trainer for his farther. Nick forced his dad to run, but Ron gave up quickly. When they came home they saw Mr. Tugg was running quickly. That was really pathetic for Nick`s family. So they continued to train and ate power food. On the first day of the competition there were a lot of people, some wore carnival costumes. The strangest costume was big fluffy purple penguin. But there wasn`t Nick`s dad in this crowd. Happy Mr. Tugg decided that he was chicken out. The race was over, but Nick`s father didn`t come. Purple penguin was Nick`s father. Mr. Tugg won. But Ron said that it wasn`t a fair race, because Mr. Tugg wasn`t wearing a penguin costume. Mr. Tugg got angry and went to his wife.

On the second day of the competition people had to0 swim a mile in the pool. Mr. Tugg was there in his slinky racing trunks. Nick`s dad was wearing his knee-length swimming trunks, a face mask, a snorkel, extra-large flippers, red inflatable ring round his waist and armbands. Mr. Tugg said that it was cheating, but organizers said that swimmers could wear whatever they want. Swimmers set off and Nick`s dad was making fast progress, thanks to his giant flippers. Suddenly Mr. Tugg began to sink. Nick`s dad saved him and helped him both out of the water. When Ron finished his mile everyone cheered and Mr. Tugg came to thank him for helping.

Nick`s dad was terrified of parachute jump. He practiced parachute landings every day, but that gave no results. So he pretended that he had chicken pox, but Nick`s mom noticed deception. When Nickolas`s family arrived at the airfield Mrs. Tugg said that her husband scared and nervous. And so was Nick`s dad too. They got into the plane. The pilot asked Nick to go with him and he agreed. They came into the cockpit. The pilot let Nick sit next to him. The pilot allowed him to fly the plane while he was drinking coffee. Then the pilot took control over the plane. Nick went to his father, because he wanted to see parachute jump. Instructors pushed Ron and Mr. Tugg from the plane and they were gone. The plane headed back to the airfield. Nick`s dad was already on the ground, he was standing next to Mr. Tugg they had their arms round each other`s shoulders and grinned while Nick`s Mom took photo of them. Nobody won in this competition. Ron and Mr. Tugg became friends. On the way home they shared their impressions with each other. But at home a new problem arose: Tomato got her potty stuck on her head. ‘Guess where we`re going?’ said Nick`s dad.
