Evil Giant Squid’s Story
By Alexandra Bobrova, 7c

They call me a monster, an evil, a demon. I am a king of Kaikura Island. My name is Giant Squid. All in all, my life is good, but there are two things that always ruin it. The first thing is a lot of bothersome whales, which often want to eat me. And the second is Jim Banning. He was the very person that set on me a pile of scientists. But let me tell you how it all happened.

Jim Banning was a fisherman, but during the summer he gave guided tours of my beautiful island. He used to tell tourists interesting stories about me. Of course, this stupid man had never seen me, so he didn’t believe that I existed. Still tourists enjoyed his stories and Jim hoped it would improve business.

One day he left the tourists on the beach, to have lunch and take some photos of island, and went fishing. He was very happy to be alone for a while. At this perfect moment I wanted to show him that I DID exist.

He had just cast his fishing rod into the water, when I started to rock his little boat from side to side. After that, I curled around the sides of the boat and lifted it out of the water with my tentacles. Jim started to scream for help loudly. It was very fanny to look at his scared face. But…

These stinking whales appeared at a distance. Now I was afraid, so I let go of the boat and disappeared. Jim looked at the water, and then quickly started the engine.

When he reached the beach he told tourists about what had happened. They all started to laugh, except for a middle aged woman. She said that she was a scientist who had WASTED a bigger part of her life in search of me.
The next day the couple of scientists were looking for me till night. Luckily I can hide perfectly. These scientists still search for me. In the end the only who had benefitted from that was Jim. His guided tours became the most popular attraction on the island. Yes, I used to hate him. But maybe it was my fault. I must be more careful and not selfish. I want to make peace with Jim.
