Painful Experience
Written by Ira Dmytrychenko, 11b
For sure you know that being a doctor is considered to be prestigious. But in our time everyone goes to this profession for money, and not by vocation. So it is really hard to find a good wise doctor, who will povide successful treatment. And I was unlucky to get in such situation.
One day, while I was dancing, I obviously twisted my leg. But I didn't pay attention to it, until my pain was unbearable. The next day my leg was swollen and I could hardly walk. So I decided to see a GP, who referred me to the surgeon. I came to him and the most pathetic part of my sad story started. (I need to say that I didn't get to the most benevolent doctor). Of course, he started our dialogue with the phrase "What worries you?" I said to him, that I had an unbearable pain in my leg. The first phrase that surprised me is "Do not exaggerate, I you wouldn't have come here if it was true". It offended me, but I didn't argue. Then he began to feel my pulse and asked to squat. But I really couldn't do it, as I even couldn't feel my leg. And he said "Okay, maybe it is really something serious". (Oh, thanks for trusting).
So then he asked me where exactly my leg hurt and also asked what had happened. I told him everything and a doctor began to examine my leg (15 minutes after I had entered the doctor’s room). I need to say, that he was examining my limb for 2 minutes, but that time was absolutely horrible for me. He crushed my ankle exactly where it hurt and didn't stop, even when I told him that I would faint. I even began to doubt whether he was a doctor.
Then he said "I'm sure you don't need to have it X-rayed, you only twisted your leg"(ONLY, ONLY twisted? Really?) I asked him "Why are you so sure in you diagnosis?" To which he answered me "I am a doctor here, I know" (Thanks God he diagnosed my injury right)
Finally, he prescribed me different ointments with analgesic action and told me to bandage my led when I walking. The last phrase that he told me was is "If you do not want any more injury, do not dance". So I concluded that this doctor wasn’t a human at all. And by the way, after this examination my leg began to hurt much more.
Now if I need to go to a surgeon in this hospital, I pray to see another doctor, as I want to see a doctor, who understands me.
