Vengeance at the Cost of Life
Investigated by Ira Dmytrychenko, 11b
This is a story about how Agent Jensen solved a murder case. The action took place in New York. It was Monday morning, 5:30 am, when Jensen was awoken by the sound of his favorite theme song. His colleague Agent Barts (head of CSI unit) informed him about a murder at Albany, which was in 30 minutes’ drive from Jensen’s apartment. He dressed up quickly, not even having a breakfast, and went to the crime scene.
Jensen walked into the crime scene, under the police tape, to face a crowded group of police. They were standing around the dead body. The murdered woman had 3 distinct gun shots in the shape of a triangle around her heart. The victim was identified as Natalie Stackman, a 24 year-old woman from New York. She had a pale complexion, fair hair and perfectly shaped red lips.
There was no sign of any marks on her body to indicate a struggle. What was really strange, she was placed in a perfect position on the ground, her hands were resting on her stomach, as if the murderer had placed her in that position on purpose. Jensen began to search the house, but he didn’t find a sign of a murder weapon. He didn’t even find a sign of break in, so Jensen came to the conclusion that the victim might have known the murderer. Members of the CSI team had estimated the time of Natalie’s death - about 2 am of Monday.
Jensen spent a whole Tuesday looking for witnesses and video surveillance from that area to find a suspect. The agent decided to look for the reasons of the murderin the girl's private life. Jensen found out that Natalie and her ex-boyfriend Kevin Simone used to own a home wares shop. Unfortunately the business collapsed and Kevin was left in charge to run the business. He got into financial trouble after Natalie had taken all the money that belonged to the shop. Agent Jensen made a guess that this situation could definitely be a good motive to shoot the woman.
The agent quickly checked the alleged location of Kevin and went to detention. After the detention members of the CSI team found the illegal weapon in his house. Kevin Simone was arrested and kept in custody. During the interrogation the murderer didn’t admit his guilt, but he had really dubious alibi as no one could prove that he was at home between 1am-3am. Finally, Kevin confessed in shooting Natalie Stackman. Kevin wanted to take revenge on Natalie, he wanted to get his money back. So he followed her back to her apartment and had shot her three times before he realized what had happened.
The case was brought to court. Kevin Simone was tried for murdering Natalie Stackman. He refused from the services of a lawyer. The jury reached a verdict that the man was guilty in murdering and possession of the illegal weapon. The guilt of the victim in the bankruptcy of the accused didn’t mitigate the punishment. Kevin Simone was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
