ROLE MODELS: MY ROLE MODEL by Victor Sharga, 8b

MY ROLE MODEL
By Victor Sharga, 8b

Almost everyone has their own role model. Some of us may find our role models in family and friends, while others - in celebrities, and sometimes even fictional characters. Celebrities are always in sight, they are adored and they are hated, they are admired and they are laughed at.

It's not that easy to become famous. You must have a strong will and be purposeful and self-confident.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong about having a role model. They inspire us to be better. But it is important to choose your role model carefully. He or she must be humane, reasonable and modest. Your role model should also be successful at the job they do.

As for me, my role model is a celebrated actor, producer and musician Keanu Reeves, who is 56. His mother is English and his father is Hawaiian.

He has starred in such movies and games as Matrix, John Wick, and Cyberpunk 2077. Keanu is a great actor and I absolutely loved his performances in all these movies and games.

He has done a lot of kind deeds. Reeves sets a good example for the youth. He always remains down-to-earth despite the fact that he is always in the public eye. And that’s why he is my role model.

When a Los Angeles-bound airplane that Reeves was on was forced to make an emergency landing he helped organize transport from Los Angeles to San Francisco, their destination. He told passengers facts about California along the way and played music from his phone.

Keanu also donates gigantic sums of money to children's hospitals and cancer research secretly. He has his own private foundation. Reeves says that he doesn’t want his name attached to it.

Reeves is okay with pay cuts so that producers can afford even more talented actors.

Keanu is not doing all his good deeds for the show, he's doing it for the good. He refuses to embrace his fame. And that's what makes him stand apart.

To sum it up, your role model should be kind, charitable and helpful. They shouldn’t be cynical, selfish, lazy, indecisive or overly proud. Also, while it is absolutely fine to have a role model, it is not good to become an absolute copy of that person.
