Of course, playing sports is always good. Sport strengthens your health and immunity, improves your muscles and shape. But even sports have some downsides. So let’s talk about dark sides of sport.
The Risk of Injury
One of the most obvious disadvantages to playing sports is the risk of injury. Injuries can be more than just an inconvenience; they can lead to lasting problems. Many injuries can take place during the course of a game. Collisions in contact sports can cause injuries, and falls can hurt you as well.
Stress and Pressure
As fun as playing sports can be, it can be stressful as well. Many times the pressure that athletes experience is self-induced. You can be your own worst critic as an athlete, and it’s important to make sure that you’re not causing yourself too much stress by worrying about performance. Sometimes the stress and pressure that go along with athletic activities can lead to lack of sleep.
Overbearing Coaches and Parents
Dealing with coaches and parents who are overbearing, unreasonable and rude is one of the most unfortunate disadvantages to playing sports. Coaches who demean athletes who underperform are difficult to deal with and can add pressure and stress. Parents who have unrealistic expectations for their own kids or other children can also create undue frustration.
Time and effort
In order to achieve high results in sports, it will take a lot of time and effort. This can go to the detriment of studies, other areas of the child's development, their various interests.
Doping
Doping- substances that temporarily enhance the physical or psychological activity of the body. In recent decades, doping scandals in professional sports have been talked about more often than outstanding victories of athletes. The use of illegal drugs and the fight against them is one of the main and extremely painful problems in world sports. Unfortunately, many athletes have taken and are taking doping to take first place in the competition.
All in all I want to say that it is up to you to decide whether you want to play sports or not. But if you have already decided to play sports seriously, then you need to be careful.
