SAVING THE GORILLA
by Alexandra Kaltashkina, 8b
James, a teenager who was living in Italy was the son of a powerful man who watched every his move. But every night when the boy was alone he used his window as a portal to travel the world. He had been to different places (once even to the space), fighting villains like a true superhero or just enjoying the views from his private jungle flat.
James opened the window and enjoyed the night air. The air was a little salty, and he could hear muffled voices from distance. Without thinking, he jumped out of the window and found himself in the... - ZOO? Is that a joke? - The place was not at all what the rich boy had expected. - I was thinking of moonwalking today or... - Suddenly, James heard a knock. The noise from cages. As he walked a little further he realized there was no one around and all the cages were empty except one. In one of the cold and wet cages sat a gorilla with dirty fur. The boy jumped back shocked.
- Why are you so loud, if you don’t stop screaming I won't mind eating you at all! - James thought the gorilla smiled after his words, but then he suddenly realized he was talking to a gorilla. It took him a few minutes to come to his senses. - Oh, sorry to scare you, you probably haven't seen anyone like me before.
- Actually, I’ve been to more interesting places than zoo. Space, for example...
- It must be cold. But never mind, I need help.
- Are you asking me for help?
- I'm asking you for help? Exactly. We are in an imaginary world and this is the only one place where I can ask someone for help. In the morning we will return to the real world and I will be beaten and scratched. It's a terrible place, really. Now, there must be a boat somewhere near us. Take me as far away as possible, please. James was a little confused, but decided to trust the gorilla's words. He took the shovel and broke the lock on the gorilla’s cage. The gorilla shouted victoriously. The boy headed towards the river and saw a lonely boat. As soon as the gorilla got into the boat, he sighed with relief and felt free.
- This is the best day of my life! - The gorilla was really smiling and watching the water.
- Well, I would prefer a walk on the moon.
- You've just never been grounded for years.
- Actually, I... okay.
- Well, if that's the case, one day I would come to save you.
The gorilla went free and travelled through the jungle hoping one day to meet the strange boy who had saved him. Well, the boy stayed to live with his rich, terribly strict father, hoping that the gorilla would save him.
