Today I read a lot of translations of English poetry. Every work is worthy of the first place. Then I decided to choose only 3 translations.
The first poem, which I liked, is “Skylark” by A. Sydorchuck. When I read this translation, my heart was swooned. I can quote some lines:
И я молчал, вдыхая пенье,
Боялся стать причиной тишины…
Теперь тот жаворонок – твоё успокоенье,
А я вот просто – голос пустоты.
The second translation, it is “Green cornfield” by O. Bogacheva. This poem she translated into the Ukrainian language. Olga made this poem even better, because our native language is very harmonious and sounds good. I can prove it with one of the lines from the translation:
В зелених нивах, де неба блакить
В яскравих промінчиках сонця,
Побачив я пташку сіреньку й зомлів -
То жайворонок пісню стрекоче.
The last translation, is “Remember me ...” by R. Panfilova. She was able to convey the important feelings of the author. I think that Renata put her heart in this translation. We can read and feel it:
Время раны излечит: ни к чему горевать,
Я хочу лишь с одною мольбою взывать:
"Память прошлого чтя, не томись по-напрасну;
И с уходом моим жизнь всё так же прекрасна".
