Recently an interesting competition was held. It was a translation contest where we had to translate poems. So I decided to choose my favorite translation of the poem ‘Remember’. There were many versions of the translation of this verse, but here are my favorites.

First I want to mention Anna’s translation because it touched me the most. These lines are very emotional:

Анна Гайша, 9в

Помни меня, когда я уйду, и никого не будет рядом…
Когда за мной закроешь дверь, проводив печальным взглядом…
Когда не сможем снова за руки мы взяться,
Когда не обернусь, чтобы остаться.

I really liked Maria’s poem and I can’t even choose my favorite part, but the ending is really good:

Оберемок Мария, 10а

И если на миг ты забудешь меня,
Не оставляй осадок, в памяти храня.
Рассеется тьма, и грусть вся уйдёт,
Когда душа твоя покой обретёт,
Пусть лучше улыбка сияет всегда,
Когда одолевать тебя будет тоска.

Also I read Sofia’s poem and I enjoyed this lines:

София Скребцова, 10а

• Проходит день за днём,
А мысли обо мне летают в воздухе ночном.

• Только вспоминай меня, хоть на мгновенье
А я, в тиши ночной, услышу слёзную молитву.

Ira’s translation was really pleasant:

Ирина Дмитриченко, 9в

И тьму, и сомненья оставь позади,
И груз своих мыслей скорей отпусти.

Then I read Anastasia’s translation and I liked the phrased which she found to translate the poem:

Анастасия Сидорчук, 10а

Ты запомни всё, что мне говорил,
Что оставил томиться в клетке души

I don’t think I have praised the works as much as they deserve, but I liked every translation because of their originality. So if I had a choice I would give the third place to Ira Dmitrichenko, second to the Sofia Skrebtsova and the first place to Anna Gaysha.
