After reading some poems, I decided to rank works of my classmates. The third place is taken by Mariya Oberemok with the poem “ПОМНИ МЕНЯ” (“Remember me”). I think that she translated this poem successfully and quite close to the original. In this translation, I liked the last four lines most of all:

“Рассеется тьма, и грусть вся уйдёт,
Когда душа твоя покой обретёт,
Пусть лучше улыбка сияет всегда,
Когда одолевать тебя будет тоска”

In my opinion, the second place should go to Olga Bogacheva with the poem “ЗЕЛЕНА НИВА” (“GREEN FIELD”). This poem describes larks’ song and shows beauty of nature, It was translated very nicely an close to original. In this translation, most of all I liked the following lines:

Ця маленька пташка, мов крихта у небі,
Так солодко гарно співає.
То вгору злетить, то спадає до низу
З метеликом в танці кружляє.

Finally, I think that the absolute winner is Marina Gritsenko with the poem "ХРАНИ" (“KEEP”). I think that this poem was translated perfectly and conveys emotions, which the author wanted to express. In this translation, the best lines are the following:

И все же, невзначай забыв, смотри,
Напрасно не печалься: всё пройдёт,
Ведь если тьма забвенья не сведёт
На нет те мысли, что храню внутри,
То лучше улыбнись и всё забудь,
Чем, помня, познавать печали суть.
