Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!!!

Christmas is the most magical time of the year. Year after year Christmas comes around and year after year we expect something very special just this time. Christmas should be more that gifts, Christmas turkey and merry-making. It’s time to remember your distant relatives or friends who may feel lonely. It’s time to help the poor and miserable. It’s time to show sympathy and compassion. This is what the words ”Christmas spirit” mean.

An Ancient Tradition of the Italian People
By Maria Kostenko, 10b

The action takes place some hundreds years ago in Italy. It was several hours before New Year celebration. A young couple was preparing their festive table. As we know, Italian people are very temperamental and their blood is hot. Everything was ok when suddenly a quarrel began.
Rosella: I don't like this green tablecloth! The following year is the year of the Red Fire Rooster. This is the year when you need to work hard and be patient in order to achieve your goals. Evil Giant Squid’s Story
By Alexandra Bobrova, 7c

They call me a monster, an evil, a demon. I am a king of Kaikura Island. My name is Giant Squid. All in all, my life is good, but there are two things that always ruin it. The first thing is a lot of bothersome whales, which often want to eat me. And the second is Jim Banning. He was the very person that set on me a pile of scientists. But let me tell you how it all happened.

Jim Banning was a fisherman, but during the summer he gave guided tours of my beautiful island. He used to tell tourists interesting stories about me. Of course, this stupid man had never seen me, so he didn’t believe that I existed. Still tourists enjoyed his stories and Jim hoped it would improve business.

How to Be British Collection
By Anastasiya Sidorchuk, 11a

First of all, I want to give thanks to Maria Evgenievna for this summer HW, because the book under the title “How To Be British Collection”, which we have had to read, contains all the necessary components of a truly fascinating book: it’s easy to read, it’s exciting, cause each of us would like to get acquainted with the weirdness of people from the country whose language we study at school and the way how author flashes his own disadvantages (mixed with advantages) makes me feel like I’m one of those visitors, who felt both wonder and apprehension.

I have never been to the UK, but I've heard a lot about the British. Reading the first part of the book under the title 'How To Be British' I HAVE FOUND SOME VERY IMPORTANT FEATURES OF A TRUE BRIT WHICH MAKE LIVING IN THEIR COUNTRY VERY COMFORTABLE FOR THEM.
