By Lucky Chance
Written by Vladimir Parnitsky, 10a
A young man was quietly crossing an old cemetery. Step by step he was getting further and further into the very heart of this awful place. The especially scary moon was watching him. It was like a big white face in the absolutely dark and horrifying sky. There was no sound, no noise, just total silence… Suddenly, “Scratch”. That sound made man’s face grow whiter than the moon. He had stepped on a dry branch and it had scared him a lot. After some minutes he continued going his way. In the middle of the cemetery he saw a big tombstone on which it was written: “Gerald Lucksly”. It was a fresh grave, because there were a lot of young flowers and some food on it. The man made a sad sigh and went up to that grave. Some minutes he was standing there motionless staring at the tombstone. His eyes were full of tears. After that he got something big from under his coat. And what was that? Oh, it was an old, heavy spade. He said: “Don’t worry; I’ll save you, brother”. He began to dig the grave. In his head there was only one thought: “I am still alive. Help…”

But, in November 2013, frightful events began in Ukraine which changed all Ukrainians. HE and SHE were real patriots, who were capable of everything for the sake of peace and freedom. So, he resolutely decided to protect our afflicted country in the East. His sweetheart also was full of boundless love to their Homeland and she begged him to let her go together with him.

The Fifth
Written by Valeria Makeyonok, 10b
The colony was noisy and crowded. There were cells, filled with cockroaches and rats, walls which had long been for youngsters like native home. Some of them had never even seen their homes. There was weeny life under their belts.
Lieutenant Lavrov was smoking in the courtyard, leaning against the wall that connected the piece of the roof and the floor. His gaze was sliding over faces of young offenders. He had been working here just for a week, and everything seemed so new and frightening. His mother always said that he could have become a good doctor, and now, remembering her words, he was afraid that he had made the wrong choice.

Friendship With a Tragic End
Written by Olga Bogachova, 10b
Someone still doubts that the expression "like cats and dogs" expresses the possibility of friendship. Because cats and dogs have totally different temperaments and characters. For example, a dog raising his paw to a cat may mean he wants playing, but a cat can take it as a sign of an attack. In addition, by nature dogs often chase things smaller than them, including cats. However, relationships between them are possible, depending on their personalities and their owners’ patience. What do you think? In reality there are a lot of absolutely amazing examples of friendship between them, and this is one of them.

Essays Providing Solutions to Problems
Changes in School System
Maria Oberemok, 10a
Current school education is an ongoing concern which many pupils have to deal with. Fortunately, there are a number of possible solutions which could change the quality of education for the better.
To begin with I want to say that in Ukrainian secondary schools almost all subjects are compulsory. For this reason pupils have big workload and their education become more boring for them. We don’t have an opportunity to choose subjects which we need in our future and we waste our time on other subjects to have a good mark at the certificate.
The most effective method to improve our education is sufficient financing, consequently our schools would have necessary equipment for many lessons(chemistry, physics, computer science) , for example at one of the most educated country, in Japan Gross Domestic Product is about 5.96 trillion us dollars. Clearly, financing is very important to solve this problem, but there are a lot of other solutions.

Anastasiya Grinuk, 10b
Dear Ministry of Education,
I am a Ukrainian senior school student and I am writing to tell about our school and to put forward a number of suggestions that would help to solve the problems with our school curriculum.
As you know educational system in Ukraine is quite complicated. Unfortunately almost all subjects are compulsory as I am senior student I am not satisfied because there are a lot of subjects that I don’t need to study because I have chosen my specialization and I need an opportunity to focus on main subjects that I need to enter a higher educational establishment.
